In 2017 we made the life changing move to live in South Korea for three years.
We fell in love with the incredible and unique Korean culture and especially Korean food and drink (you can check out our food adventures @TheKFoodProject).
While the infamous ‘green bottle’ soju makes for an awesome night out with friends, we discovered that traditionally distilled craft soju was almost completely wiped out during years of occupation, war and economic recovery.
Along with many craft soju brands both inside and outside of Korea, we’re part of a movement to create awareness of the glorious traditions of craft soju and the wonderful flavours created from using only grain, nuruk and water – no additives, preservatives or sweeteners.
We dream that one day traditionally distilled craft soju will become as popular and as loved as craft beer and craft gin.
As the first commercially produced traditionally distilled craft soju made in New Zealand (founded August 2022), we’re honoured to be spreading awareness of this wonderful richly historic drink with a new audience.
We invite you to learn more about soju, how we make our soju in New Zealand, why we use wheat instead of rice and so much more over here.
